An R.A.F. navigator during World War II. George's work is predominated by fear of the atomic bomb. He sued Eugene Burdick and Harvey Wheeler over similarities in Fail-Safe to his earlier novel Two Hours to Doom. He committed suicide in 1966 while working on the unfinished Nuclear Survivors.
